How Does the Calista Saliva Ovulation Tester Work?

Your hormone levels change during ovulation, this change affects your body in many ways and this change is easily identifiable in bodily fluids such as blood, urine, and saliva.

Until quite recently  using Saliva as a measure of monthly fertility has been overlooked, favouring other tests such as temperature testing.

Now well-documented research has identified a distinct connection between changes in hormonal balances and a process called saliva-ferning, which can be observed through a microscope

Calista is a powerful pocket microscope used to observing saliva-ferning to help determine the fertile and infertile periods during your regular monthly cycle.

How is The Calista Ovulation Test Device used?

• Take a sample of saliva from your tongue using your finger ensuring that it’s not foamy or bubbly. Rub the saliva evenly onto the glass plate.
• Allow the saliva sample to dry for 5 minutes,  then insert the eyepiece back into the optical tube.
• Look through the viewfinder whilst pushing the white button on the base of the tester. Carefully focus the image by turning the optical part until the image is clear.
• Compare what you see with the ones in the booklet and you can determine whether you are at your infertile period, becoming fertile or at your most fertile period.

Who is it NOT Suitable For?

The Calista Ovulation Tester Kit is Not suitable for:

• Women with poor vision (unless someone can help you)
• Women under hormonal contraception
• Women who have been pregnant IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS
• Women receiving fertility drugs such as clomiphene citrate since these drugs cause an increase in hormone levels which will induce Saliva ferning.
